Global Soccer Legends to Compete in a Special 5v5 Tournament at Universal Orlando Resort
Heroes from Ajax, Sao Paulo FC, Flamengo and the Bundesliga represented by Frankfurt to feature in this special event
ORLANDO, Fla. – Dec. 19 – The Florida Cup, an annual international celebration of soccer and entertainment in Central Florida, today announced it will host a special 5V5 Florida Cup Legends activation at Universal Orlando Resort on January 8, 2019. A one-of-a-kind mini arena will be constructed inside Universal Studios to host the event. Fans inside the Universal Studios park are welcome to watch the exhibition.
A host of global soccer’s legendary players have confirmed participation including former Holland and Manchester United goalkeeper, Edwin Van der Sar, and one of Brazil’s greatest players, midfielder Zico. They will be joined by former Brazilian midfielder Denilson. Frankfurt will also feature Former German national team striker Fredi Bobic and former Bundesliga champion and Mexican national team player Pavel Pardo.
In addition to the 5V5 tournament, the mini arena will be open Jan. 8 and 9, and will host special challenges between visiting influencers and YouTube personalities in town to cover the Florida Cup.
“This idea was generated from discussions between the participating clubs. We are honored to host some of our former idols in Orlando. This will be a unique opportunity for fans to see some of the world’s best footballers display their talents on a special pitch built by Soccergrass at Universal Orlando,” said Florida Cup CEO Ricardo Villar.
